A Place Called Home

So far, all of these posts have been about the beginnings of Fusion without much personal info. So, here's a glimpse of how we got here.

Since June 2000, I haven’t had a place to truly call home. While in college at the Air Force Academy, I went “home” to Milwaukee for holidays and vacations, but even then I knew that I would probably never live there again. After the Academy, Heather and I were married and began our journey together. We lived in Colorado first and loved every minute of it. We had a great church, great friends, great jobs, and a great place to live. Our next move was to Valdosta, Georgia for pilot training. There I spent my days working and studying nonstop while Heather spent her days with intense morning sickness as she was pregnant with our first child. In March 06, after 8 months in Georgia, we moved to Ft Rucker, AL for helicopter training. Anjali was born in May and our lives were changed forever. The joys of being a dad are unexplainable! In August 06, I graduated from pilot training and we found out that we were going to be stationed in Cheyenne, WY in June 07. In the meantime, we spent 5 months waiting and plugging into a youth group at Christ Community Church in Enterprise, AL. In Jan 07, we moved to Albuquerque to finish up some helicopter training before starting my assignment up here. A short 5 months later, we loaded up the cars, got on I-25, and drove the last 9 hrs to Cheyenne. Upon arrival, we bought a house, started our church search, and found Element soon after. I can't even begin to explain what a blessing it is/was to find such a phenomenal church so quickly. Having lived in 6 places and 4 different states in the past 3 yrs, I learned that finding a good church is right up there with finding a place to live, but 5X as difficult! More on our story of finding Element later...

In Oct, Kaitlyn was born and our family could finally settle down. 2008 will be the first calendar year that Heather and I will spend in one place. It is our first opportunity to plant relationship roots that won’t immediately need to be watered with phone calls and emails. It is our first chance to have a place that we can call... home
