LIFE is for everyone

As a church, and as a youth group, we believe that Life Is For Everyone (LIFE) and we wanted to demonstrate that in a tangible way. So, in February, JV Fusion started the LIFE Program. The program is a 12-week opportunity for the junior-highers to bring friends, dress up in costumes, compete against each other in a variety of games, and learn about the process of sin and how we can conquer it. Our primary scripture is James 1:13-15 which says, “When tempted, no one should say, ‘God is tempting me.’ For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.” Our discussions and lessons have been about the temptations that we face and how we can avoid them. We’ve discussed the sins that we fall prey to and how we can be forgiven. In the next 4 weeks, we’ll be talking about the addictions and habits that result from repetitive sin and how the end result is death. Each step of the way, we are emphasizing God’s unconditional grace and mercy that allows us to cross over from death to life.
To keep things fun and exciting, we’ve broken the group into 3 different teams that are competing for points in a variety of areas (scripture memorization, games, costumes, bringing friends, etc). In May, the team with the most points will win a free trip to the first annual LIFE retreat! So far, it’s been a lot of fun and a great learning experience for everyone involved.
To pull this off, we requested volunteers to be team leaders, score keepers, and mentors. Eight leaders answered the call and have formed our core leadership team with a commitment to the rest of the LIFE Program and beyond. Praise God for people that are willing to join us in reaching, training, and discipling the next generation!
